Yan Wei
This interactive moving image project, supported by Ford Mustang, transforms my paintings into dynamic visual sequences. Guided by GPS tracking, the speed and rhythm of the images shift in response to movement, allowing the work to unfold in real time.
Developed in collaboration with a musician, the project extends into a multi-sensory experience, where sound and image evolve together. Elements from the paintings are further extracted and reconfigured into large-scale, immersive projections, amplifying their presence within the urban environment.
Projected onto the nocturnal cityscape of Beijing, the work becomes an encounter between image and place—an extension of my practice into lived space, where memory, movement, and the city’s atmosphere intersect.
